Physical Environment

Busy Bees Nursery will provide a premises which will conform to the highest safety measures at all times. The main door will be fitted with a safety chain and childproof gate placed between the front door and the inner door into the hall. All outdoor areas will be fitted with childproof gates so that at no time will the children be in danger of getting off the premises.

The nursery will be warm and welcoming with the children’s work displayed with care. The nursery will be well lit at all times and will be maintained in a good state of repair.

The nursery will be thoroughly cleaned at the end of each day with special care being taken to ensure the cleanliness of all eating areas and all toys.

The nursery will only be used for the children during the day and will be safely closed at night.

There will be access to the telephone at all times with parents also being given the leader’s mobile number.

The temperature will always be maintained at the correct setting required for the health and safety of the children and staff.

The number of children registered will have the correct floor area per child.

Five large rooms will be available for the use of the children, with the two front rooms for the use of the 2 to 5 year olds, one being the construction / play room, with the other being the teaching and learning room. The kitchen will be divided into a creative area for painting, sand and water play; the remainder of the kitchen will be sealed off for staff use.

The two back rooms will be used for babies and toddlers from birth to two years old, with one being a baby sleep room and the other being a baby play room. The baby sleep room is fitted with a security camera which is monitored from the play room.

The baby sleep areas will be provided with cots where they will be able to sleep or rest quietly. Sleeping mats will be provided for the older children to rest quietly possibly after lunch if they so wish.

Adequate storage space for equipment will be provided both for indoor and outdoor toys.

Outdoor areas will include a hard area for the children to use bikes and trikes etc.

A large decking area will be provided for quiet outdoor play. A large grassed area will be used for equipment such as slides and swings.
